Philosophy and Goals

Philosophy Statement

The Philosophy of W. F. Kaynor Technical High School is to provide technical training with instruction of academic competency skills in preparation for student transition from school to career and post-secondary education. We provide a challenging and stimulating educational environment that prepares students in comprehensive academic and occupation-specific programs, so that they will be able to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We recognize that young people are unique and differ in learning styles, development, and experience. Kaynor creates a learning environment that accommodates the diverse needs of our student population. By providing a quality technical education, we equip students to reach their full potential and meet the challenges of the modern day workplace in their chosen trades. Students are instilled with a strong work ethic to prepare them to be productive and respected members of the community.

Goals

Students in the 21st Century must adapt to changing labor demands and technological challenges. The goals of W.F. Kaynor Technical High School are to produce graduates who, through the use of Connecticut's Common Core of Learning, demonstrate proficient academic skills, problem solving skills, specific occupational competencies, commitment to integrity, and a strong work ethic in a safe environment. W. F. Kaynor strives to educate our students so that they will have the desire and ability to become life-long learners and contributing members of society.
