When you enter the new Kaynor Tech, you will
probably notice a grid of lights set in the main lobby's floor.
This is a new art work that was commissioned as part of the
school's major renovation and expansion project. A panel of
Kaynor Tech staff members chose the concept and design of Connecticut
artist Gar Waterman from countless other proposals. Entitled
Career Paths, the interactive artwork made of brass, cast glass,
LED lights, and a computer with accompanying software is meant
to inspire Kaynor Tech students. As you walk across the grid
of lights in the floor, you will notice that they change colors
in a a brilliant and always surprising pattern depending on
the direction you take.
The intention of this work of art is to enable
Kaynor Tech students to reflect, both literally and figuratively,
the commitment that they make in attending Kaynor as they take
their first steps along their respective career paths. A path
that can lead to many fruitful, exciting and challenging future
possibilities.
