Admission Procedure

Students interested in admissions at the ninth or tenth grade level must follow the following procedures:

  1. File a completed application including grades and attendance records from your previous school.

  2. Take the Connecticut State Mastery Test (Students in non-public schools or special education students who do not take the mastery test must take the admissions mastery test at Platt Tech.)


Graduation Requirements

  1. Well developed work ethic (this represents a pattern of personal attributes which collectively describe and individual who is both work ready and able to advance on the job). These include:

    • Reliability, dependability, regular attendance

    • Conscientious, diligent, motivated

    • Honesty, loyalty, integrity, pride

    • Mature, disciplined, cooperative

  2. Entry level trade competencies

    • Familiar with terminology, tools and safety practices

    • Competence in essential trade skills, equivalent to a second year apprentice

    • Capable of functioning with minimal supervision

  3. Basic academic skills

    • Able to use written and oral language reasonably

    • Capable of computation and application of mathematical principles

    • Able to apply logical, sequential, evaluative and critical thought process

  4. Interpersonal communication skills

    • Able to listen, understand and follow directions

    • Using appropriate language in requesting assistance, responding to inquiries and providing explanations

    • Team player- able to work well in a group

  5. Physically, mentally and emotionally healthy

    • Takes pride in appearance and general hygiene

    • Able to communicate on job performance


Transportation

Residents of towns local to the Platt Tech region will be provided with transportation by the town in which you live, or be eligible for transportation reimbursement.
