On Wednesday, February 18th, Peer Mediation training took place in the school Library Media Center. Sixteen mediators (three juniors, nine sophomores, and four freshmen) attended a half-day training program that included an overview of the process and simulations. Five senior peer mediators were responsible for the training, under the direction of program coordinator Mrs. Messina. Dr. Hughes was also present to award certificates and to congratulate the successful participants.
Peer mediation allows students in dispute to be referred, or to self-refer, for conflict resolution by participating in a process that seeks a solution under the direction of their peers.
Congratulations to our new peer mediators! Job well done trainers. |
