Congresswoman Rosa
DeLauro paid a very special visit to Platt on December 16th. The purpose of the visit was to check out the Manufacturing Technology Department and the new cutting edge automated manufacturing equipment which the school has obtained. It was through Representative DeLauro’s effort that a federal grant of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars was obtained for the machinery.
Members of the CBIA and The New Haven Manufacturers’ Association who have been very supportive of Platt were also in attendance for the tour along with State Representatives Gayle Slossberg and Richard Roy. Superintendent Abigail Hughes was also on hand for the tour and luncheon prepared by the Culinary Arts Department. Platt
is only the second school in the state to have this equipment available
for the training of students who plan to go into the manufacturing
industry. |
