At
the recent SKILLS USA competition, Platt set a school record
by winning 24 awards and trophies in various technical areas.
Five members of the team were eligible to go to Kansas City
to compete for a national championship. There was only one
problem – money. Costs for transportation and accommodations made it very difficult for the team to get there and compete. Along came three “angels”. Armand Cantafio, CEO of Northeast Electronics; Sam Bergami, CEO of Alinabal Corp; and Louis D’Amato of D’Amato Investments, LLC. learned about the success of the students and their financial dilemma. The three gentlemen decided that it was not acceptable that these students would be denied this opportunity. They donated a total of five thousand dollars to help finance the trip. As a result Platt will enter five students in the championship round this summer. The administration, staff, and student body would like to thank Mr. Cantafio, Mr.Bergami, and Mr. D’Amato
for their generosity and understanding of the value of technical
education.
