#111-TESOL Preferred candidate will have knowledge of English Learner (EL) instructional strategies for accessing subject area content, the CT CORE (CELP) Standards and ELs, use of differentiated instruction, LAS Links assessment, application of SRBI strategies; use of varied assessments for progress monitoring; collaboration with colleagues in planning instruction/assessment; explicit vocabulary instruction; experience using educational technology and strategies for creating positive rapport with students acquiring English as a second language. Candidates may apply for a TESOL Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) if they qualify. The candidate must provide documentation as follows: must be certified in an academic subject, provide evidence of 12 semester hours of credit in appropriate TESOL coursework; OR if the educator already holds a valid teaching certificate that requires a BA, the requirements are just 12 semester hours of credit in TESOL toward a cross endorsement.
