CERTIFICATION INFORMATION

Certification Information – Intermediate Administrator or Supervisor

Thank you for your interest in the Connecticut Technical High School System.  We have changed our application requirements to be more consistent with the needs of our school system and our curriculum.

To serve as an administrator in the Connecticut Technical High School System:  An administrator must hold a valid certificate appropriate for the assignment or position (endorsement #092). The certificate must be issued by the Connecticut State Department of Education.  An out-of-state certificate is NOT acceptable for holding a regular, contracted position in the Connecticut Technical High School System.

Qualifications for an Assistant Principal or Principal Position

Our requirements for initial hiring include holding a valid Connecticut administrator’s certificate (endorsement #092), completion of a master’s degree plus a minimum of 18 semester hours of credit beyond the master’s degree, verification of at least five years of teaching experience, and three years of leadership/supervisory experience.  An applicant should be able to demonstrate knowledge of supervisory, evaluation, and instructional methods, familiarity with school reform initiatives, the use of technology to support instruction and special education programming, and the ability to communicate in a fair and equitable manner with students, parents, staff, district office, business/industry and the community at large.
The applicant should have training with supervision and evaluation of staff, mentor/assessor training, and experience utilizing student data to improve student and school performance. Experience working with an adolescent population in urban/suburban/rural areas is preferred depending on school location.

Please note: You must also submit an employment application and resume to our Human Resources Office in Middletown.  If you have already submitted an employment application, but the one currently on file is more than six months old, please update your application. Applications that are past the six month timeline will be placed in an inactive file.
