The Fashion Department for Field Day |
The
Fashion Department Class of
2010 is in the process of making two velvet patchwork quilts
and thirty-five canvas tote bags all from recycled materials. Both
quilts, which are being constructed by recycled designer
swatches, will be raffled off. The tote bags will be sold
at the school store. Proceeds from both are being donated
to Student Council to help fund Field Day. |

Jestina
Morales and Ashley Kawecki, who were not present, were responsible
for making and decorating the Kanji Bags.

“We
chose to name them ‘Kanji Bags’ because we stenciled characters
on the bags, and Kanji is a system of Japanese writing using
Chinese derived characters. The characters on the bags
were chosen because they are the elements of life that we
felt were important to us.” Miss Gilmartin said. From
left to right, they are LOVE, PEACE, ENERGY and ETERNITY.
