IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS
We are monitoring the flu conditions at Grasso, as our goal is
to keep our school open and functioning in a normal manner during
the flu season, but we need your help to do this. We are seeing an
increase in the number of students coming to school ill
with flu like symptoms. In order to reduce the spread of illness, please
keep your sick child home. The school nurse will not
excuse a child who comes to school ill. Please do not allow
your child to return to school until their fever is less
than 100 degrees for at least 24 hours without
the use of fever reducing medication.
Here are some things you can do to help prevent the spread of
the flu including H1N1:
- Remind
your child to wash his/her hands frequently during the day,
especially before eating, after using the bathroom, after gym
class or use of shared equipment, and after blowing his/her
nose. Please
consider sending your child to school with a small bottle of
hand sanitizer to use when not near soap and water.
- Remind
your child not to share personal items like food and drink,
lip gloss or lip balms, and uniforms.
- Remind
your child to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues. When
tissues are not available, advise your child to cover coughs
and sneezes using an elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand.
Very truly yours,
Kerry Parker Bell
