Recently two Grasso Tech Seniors had artwork chosen to represent the school in the 26th Annual Congressional Art Contest. Information Systems Technology senior Joe Claudio worked independently in Drawing II to create his "Miscellaneous View" self-portrait drawing. Automotive senior Brenton Brozyna created his "Grandfather Oak" mixed media piece in Studio Art using a past visit to New Hampshire as his source of inspiration. Ms. Roswell stated that both these students were exceptional artists and very dynamic young men! “I feel that it is important not only to promote my students' artwork, but the creativity of all our students here at Grasso Tech. Arts education offers students a source of aesthetic experience, allowing them to develop creative and flexible forms of thinking while helping them understand and appreciate art. Arts programs strengthen students mental habits not emphasized in traditional academic classes, but which are highly desirable in a trade related shop class, such as observing, envisioning, innovating and reflecting.” |
