Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program
Admission Requirements for Acceptance
to the LPN Program
** The following admission requirements will be accepted starting in April, 2009.
  1. Fill out the the Adult Education Application Packet to the Technical High School you are applying to. All application materials must be received by November 21, 2009.

  2. Send in a resume with the application packet.

  3. All candidates must take an admission test. To register for admissions testing, go to the ATI Website. (Last Date for Admission Testing is November 21, 2009). If you have questions regarding registration for admissions testing or study guides, call ATI (1-800-667-7531).

    The TEAS was developed to measure basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of Reading, Mathematics, Science and English and Language Usage.  These entry level skills were deemed important for nursing program applicants by a panel of nursing program curriculum experts.
    The TEAS is a 170-item, four-option, multiple-choice assessment.  To prepare in an organized and efficient manner, you should know what to expect from the real assessment.

    The score on the TEAS will also be used to rank eligible students. The test will take 3.5 hours to complete. The applicant may retake the TEAS as many times as desired, however, there must be a 30 day period between each testing. There is a fee for the test.

    When creating a New Account on the ATI website you will be asked to select an Institution. Please select the institution you would or plan on applying to. All schools within the Connecticut LPN Program will be able to view your results, but you must select the school that you wish to attend. Please edit your ATI profile and make sure you have choosen one of the following:

  4. Submit an official high school transcript or a copy of a GED. Copies of Diplomas will be accepted. All transcripts must be received by November 21, 2009 for classes beginning January, 2010.

  5. You need to have completed college level Intermediate Algebra with a C or better and English Composition with a C+ or better. You will need to submit an official transcript showing that these courses have successfully been completed. If you are presently enrolled or planning to enroll in these courses, please submit proof of registration.

  6. Students who have submitted a completed application, resume, and an official transcript and have completed the admission test will be notified by an acceptance letter into the LPN Program in December, 2009.

Submit the following if available:

  1. If you have completed Human Biology (4 credit course) within the last 3 years with a grade of C or higher, submit an official transcript before October 30, 2009. If you have completed Introduction to Psychology or Developmental Psychology Across the Lifespan with a grade of C or higher (no time limit), submit an official transcript by November 21, 2009.
  2. The following course must be completed before graduation with a grade of C or better:
     Introduction to Psychology
    This course will be offered online during the final semester of the LPN program.
