Mechatronics

Program Description


Students enrolled in the CTECS mechatronics program are given instruction in and demonstrate skills and knowledge in mechanisms and a wide variety of electromechanical principles and practices. Safety, hand tool and digital multi-meter use are demonstrated and practiced. Students advance learning all aspects of electrical and electronic circuitry supplies. Coursework includes; semiconductor devices, AC/DC motors and motor control, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, PLCs and mechanisms. Students are instructed in preventative maintenance schedules, and proper industrial machine maintenance procedures are practiced. Troubleshooting, part nomenclature, interpretation and application of schematics, and proper service techniques are refined in grade 12.

Students receive 540 hours of instruction in the career/technical program each year.

Students can receive up to 1500 hours towards a metal trade or electrical apprenticeship upon graduation* (*Upon Employer Acceptance)

Students are eligible to participate in work-based learning (WBL) in grades 11 & 12. This program allows companies to hire students during the school day to work on the manufacturing floor. Students will get credit for their work experience and it is an important pipeline for getting our students into industry.
