The Windham Tech 2007 Boys’ Crosscountry team concluded
one of its most successful seasons with Senior Jesse Quick qualifying
to run in the State Open Championship held on Nov. 2nd. Jesse
was the first CSC athlete to run in the Open since Brian Bombria,
also from Windham, accomplished the feat in 2001.
Led by a veteran core of six seniors, expectations were high as
the Mighty Tigers sought to repeat this season as defending champions
from 2006. Early season competitions quickly established
Windham Tech as a force in the conference as they ran through their
regular season schedule undefeated.
At the CSC Championships Windham Tech dominated the Boys’ Varsity
race. Jesse Quick led the way by taking the individual title. He
was followed by John Mullins (3rd), Hansel Sosa (5th), Jorge Camacho
(10th), Luis Camacho (11th), and Angel Rivera (12th) in close order. All
six were named to the CSC All-Conference Team! In Junior
Varsity action Windham again dominated with Dan Roberts winning
convincingly and Derek Gagnon finishing third.
The Tigers then put their talent to the test against a field of
23 Class “SS” schools from across the state. Windham
Tech ran a strong race in finishing 7th as a team, led by Jesse
Quick who finish 8th overall, thereby attaining All-State honors
and qualifying for his State Open run.
