Windham Tech Varsity Volleyball finished their 2009
season on top of the world… or at least at the top of the
Constitution State Conference. The varsity team began their season
uncertain of how well they would fair compared to last year’s
team which placed 2nd in the CSC championship.
That all changed
when they beat the 2008 CSC Champions Grasso Tech in a regular
season game. It was like winning the championship. But they got
to feel what that was really like anyway. With another winning
season and a record of 14 wins and 4 losses, the lady tigers went
on to defeat Classical Magnet in the CSC championships held at
St. Joseph’s college. On their way to the championship they
lost to only one other tech school during the regular season and
was able to play against power house schools such as Killingly,
Windham and Lyman.
After the championship the lady tigers went
on to make it to the quarter finals of the Class S championship
where they faced the undefeated number one seeded team, The Morgan
School in Clinton, Ct. While they lost the match they were able
to surprise Morgan and their fans by taking the first game all
the way to 22-25 before giving up the victory.
