| The
Guidance Office is located on the first floor of the building,
Room A-122. Counselors are on hand to assist students with various
school and personal problems. A prime function of the counselors
is to help students begin a realistic appraisal of their abilities,
achievements, interests and values so that they will be better
able to make intelligent, personal, occupational, and educational
decisions. All students need to be aware of the alternatives
to and consequences of their decisions, and a counselor will
provide them an opportunity to assess these situations.
The Guidance Office
has a computerized career guidance program. Here students will
find information on careers, colleges, financial aid and scholarship
service, day care, jobs, military careers, and national trade
schools. The Guidance Department maintains a library of catalogs
and vocational information for students' use. These catalogs
include those on vocational programs and two and four year college
brochures. All students are invited to come to the guidance
office with any questions or problems, and they are urged to
make frequent use of the many materials there.
Parents are urged
to make appointments with the counselor when questions or concerns
develop. The guidance secretary will make the necessary arrangements. |
