Windham Technical High School’s Culinary Arts juniors proudly took part in Latin American Month festivities at Eastern Connecticut State University in April. ECSU’s campus adjoins WTHS’s and the two schools are delighted at their growing partnership with various activities and events. ECSU’s Woman’s Center sponsored the barbeque for Latin American Month and asked WTHS culinary department to cater it. Little did our students realize what it would be to cater and serve almost 2,000 people!
Under the direction of Department Head, Chef Shirley Dunnack, Chef Rachael Brown and Chef Robert Motekaitis, the students created a feast that included such delights as: Guajillo Chili Pork Sandwiches, Grilled Mojo Chicken Skewers and Roasted Vegetable Quesedillas. This talented group of chefs-to-be also had the opportunity during the preparation phase of the barbeque to demonstrate their skills to the crowd at ECSU.
The Culinary Arts Juniors are: Julie Ashton, Aissia Allison, Priscilla Arriaga, Tim Bernard, Ashlee Berthiaume, Brittany Burke, Christopher Burns, Tyler Danks, Brooke DiSimone, Kim Jordan, Dakota Michaud, Edgardo Ocasio, Alex Pepe, Gene Perkins, Shannon Plander, Samantha Thompson, Matt Tomanelli and Carmen Vega.
