CTHSS One Read

Your Audience:  All Students, Teachers, Parents, Staff and Administrators at your school

Your Goal:  Get the whole school community reading I Am Malala, viewing the documentary, They Call Me Malala, and talking about the one read theme:  The Courage to Fight for Love, Kindness and Tolerance

Just a few ideas to include in your plan:

• Book club discussions of I Am Malala
• Opportunities for students, parents, and teachers to view and discuss the documentary: They Call Me Malala
• School events that promote kindness and inclusion of ALL students:  Lunch Buddies (making sure no students sits alone during lunch), “Stick Your Neck Out for Others” Ani-Bullying Campaign, cultural appreciation and celebration events, etc.
• Social media campaign on your school’s social media page and the district pages: Facebook, twitter, Instagram, (follow CTTechHS on Facebook, twitter and Instagram and)
• Use of hashtags to promote events: #onereadCTHSS, #CTHSS, #CTHSSpride, #readacrossamerica, #yesallgirls, #malala, #withmalala
• Post pictures and videos of your events to social media using the hashtags

Your Plan:  Join the “One Read CTHSS” Google Classroom and Post your plan by December 1^st. Use this code to join the classroom: 4k92w0z .  Plan organizers are posted in the google classroom.  See reverse

Timeline:

By October 26^th: Have a meeting with student leaders to brainstorm ideas for promotion events.  For more information and resources, go to: https://www.malala.org/malalas-story

By November 1^st: Write up your plan using the Event Planner

By November 15^th: Request a meeting with the principal to discuss your plan and get approval for your events.  (Show the principal the plan organizer.)

By December 1^st: Post your Event Planner to the “One Read CTHSS” Google Classroom and start promoting your events on social media!!
