About Our Programs

At the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System all students receive instruction in academics and their chosen trade, which results in a Connecticut high school diploma. But they also earn:
— a valuable Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate in their field of study
— multiple industry-recognized credentials that let them hit the ground running once they begin their career

Our students also participate in enhanced curricular and co-curricular programs including college-credited courses, AP courses, interscholastic athletics, SkillsUSA and bilingual programs.

After graduating from a CTECS school, our students have many opportunities available to them, including:
— beginning an in-demand career
— pursuing an apprenticeship
— enrolling in a four-year or two-year higher educational institution, or an occupational certificate program

Student Workforce

You won’t find harder-working schools…or students. During the school day, thanks to partnerships with local companies, students in grades 11 and 12 gain hands-on, real-world experience as part of Work-Based Learning (WBL). Not only do they earn credits toward CTE courses, they also get paid.

Also unique to CTECS — our Student Workforce, a business run by students and faculty. Through this program, a wide range of services are offered to the public at a reduced price, giving students invaluable on-the-job experience in their chosen trade including automotive repair, printing services, dining, hairdressing, electrical and much more.
