Dr. Nivea Torres, Superintendent of the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTHSS), announced and recognized Aimee Correa, Hairdressing Instructor at Eli Whitney Technical High School in Hamden, Conn., as the District Teacher of the Year.

Ella T. Grasso Technical High School was the host location for a roundtable discussion featuring state legislative, business and community leaders. The group, which included Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Chris Murphy and Congressman Joe Courtney, discussed the need for a well-trained manufacturing workforce, as well as the importance of working together to secure future funding and maintaining institutions to meet workforce needs.

A 2014 A.I. Prince Technical High School graduate was recently awarded the “Bill Walthouse” award by Asnuntuck Community College, the college’s most prestigious award given to a graduating manufacturing student.

Twenty-one submarine sculptures filled the gymnasium at Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Connecticut Technical High School Friday afternoon, the inventive and colorful designs by local artists only partially visible under blue plastic sheets.

All it took was one cabinetry class in his freshman year at E.C. Goodwin Technical High School and Aaron Boutin was hooked. Boutin not only took cabinetry in his freshman and sophomore years, but excelled in it.

More than 185 middle and high school girls came together to participate in the third annual Connecticut. Dream It. Do It. Making It Real: Girls & Manufacturing Summit at the Hartford/Windsor Marriott in Windsor, Connecticut on Oct. 28, 2016.
